Accessibility Statement

Designed so more people can communicate with confidence.

Accessibility isn't a feature we added to ExpressAgain — the whole product exists because standard interfaces fail people with communication disabilities. Making things usable for everyone is the job, not a checkbox.

Our Commitment

Built for the people interfaces usually leave out.

ExpressAgain began at one kitchen table, built for one mother with aphasia. That origin sets our bar: if the person the product was made for can't use a screen comfortably, the screen isn't done. We carry the same standard to this website and to every release of the app.

  • We build toward WCAG 2.1 AA

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are our working standard. We don't claim certification — we use the guidelines to check our work as we build.

  • We design with our own family first

The founder's mother uses ExpressAgain every day. If something is hard for her, it gets fixed before it ships.

  • We test with large text, high contrast, and screen readers as we build

New screens are checked with the same settings our users rely on — not as an afterthought at the end.

  • Accessibility is reviewed in every release

Every release is looked at through an accessibility lens before it goes out. When we miss something, we want to hear about it.

Accessibility features

These are real preferences in the product today — chosen during onboarding and adjustable anytime in Settings.

Adjustable text size

Choose standard, large, or extra-large text throughout the app — set once during onboarding, changeable anytime in Settings.

High contrast mode

A high-contrast display option makes text and buttons easier to distinguish for low-vision users.

Large buttons & one-hand layouts

Large tap targets by default, plus a dominant-hand setting that arranges controls for left-handed, right-handed, or either-hand use.

Read-aloud everywhere

Phrases, lessons, and help articles can be spoken out loud, with adjustable speaking speed, pitch, and volume.

Reduced motion

Turn off animations and movement for users who find motion distracting or disorienting.

Simple language mode + icon support

Plain, shorter wording across the app, with icons shown alongside text — and a text-first option for people who prefer words leading.

And this website itself: we build it with semantic HTML, alt text on images, and keyboard-navigable components — and we keep working on it.

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is never finished.

We review the site and the app regularly, and we know we'll still miss things. When you find one, tell us — feedback from real users is how ExpressAgain gets better.

  • We build with real users and their families

The people who depend on ExpressAgain — starting with our own family — shape what we build and how it works.

  • We revisit content and features every release

Wording, contrast, tap targets, and flows get another look each time we ship, not just when something breaks.

  • We hold ourselves accountable through clear standards

WCAG 2.1 AA gives us a shared, public benchmark — so "accessible" isn't just our opinion.
